1st Runner UpLeo Benjamin CHAN, Jessica HA, Millie SIU, Giselle WONG
Jessica HADealing with environmental challenges require us to reform our current exploitative business-as-usual ways to create new practices and behaviours that involves concern for the environment and society, on top of financials. And it was this idea of innovation and creating new green business models that attracted us to participate in this competition. It was, indeed, a lot more than we expected. As we went deeper and deeper into our business plan, the kinks we encountered evidenced how difficult it was to balance out the three pillars of sustainability in running a profitable business. We gained a lot walking away from this competition, from practical skills to maturing in our outlook towards sustainability. What’s more, we have also tried our hands at addressing environmental problems with a new mindset. This experience has prepared us for our future career not only through broadening our skillset, but it has showed us our current shortcomings, so we know what we should work on in our remaining year in the university.
