Combining different facets of the environment industry, the EVMT program offers a great pathway to the sustainability field. I chose the program because I wanted to know a bit of everything: the science, the engineering, and the business behind it all. I knew that I could always build on this foundation when I find an area I want to specialize in afterwards. Indeed, the study was exactly what I had anticipated. It also helped me further understand my strengths and weaknesses, which was important in determining suitable jobs for me.
I am most grateful for the sheer amount of exposure the program offered. Through the winter trip to Singapore, industry conferences like the BEC Enviroseries, career sharing sessions, and the mentorship program organized by the student society, I gained not only textbook knowledge but also in-depth industry insights. The combination of academic courses, discussion with mentors, and internship experiences led me to discover my interest in the social sciences, particularly in public policy. Thanks to my interdisciplinary background, I am able me to pick up new concepts in our increasingly connected world while I continuously acquire new learning in the research field.
